About
Welcome to Jericho Singers!
If you've found us online you've probably heard about this Oxford choir from a friend or received a flier or spotted a poster around and about, then welcome.
We are a friendly, fun group of singers, that get together on a Monday evening and on Wednesday Lunchtime at St. Barnabas Church, Jericho, Oxford.
We love to sing songs from whole range of music from jazz to pop, folk to classical, R & B to hip hop as well as songs about the canal and life on and around it. Our choir is passionate about the canal and our concerts raise money for the Jericho Boatyard and Wharf project - more information at www.jerichowharf.com.
No previous singing experience is required, equally if you are an experienced singer or reader you will also find something that stretches you too. Singing in different styles helps you learn different techniques and approaches, which really improves your singing overall!
Our website is also a home to musical resources that will help you participate in the choir including tracks and learning videos. Every member who signs up for at least a term will have their own unique password and access to our online resources.
Our Monday night choir has a waiting list at the moment but Jericho Singers Wednesday Choir still has a few places. If you are interested in joining one of our choirs please see the join page here.
About Steph Pirrie (www.stephpirrie.com)
I am a singer, musician and vocal coach living in Jericho Oxford working in all genres of music including Jazz, folk, classical, R & B. I have a number of musical interests and one of them a huge passion for communal singing. As far as Jericho Singers goes, my mission is to take everyone on a journey through different songs and styles and to provide a supportive team environment for everyone to flourish. We are open access and ambitious offering development opportunities for everyone who joins with a focus on performance which we all enjoy.
We encourage our singers to suggest repertoire and to bring along songs they love that might be suitable for the group to sing.
